Our club has had a long history in Nicaragua culminating in the foundation of GoCare and the last Global Grant to establish 3 learning centers in Nicaragua. Our involvement started out as a coffee project but soon morphed into a water project, we learned that the coffee plants were not necessarily ending up where we thought they would go. Our early efforts were led by Jan Lindsay and Tom Crozier with Tom being very involved with our water projects and along with a Rotary Club in Oklahoma we had quite a big project going on down there.
This led to the project and GoCare starting to do Vocational Training. Jan believed that if we could teach the people real skills that we could help alleivate the poverty going on. Tom spent much time in Nicaragua and for a very long time was our go too person in country. Tom also made available scholarships to some of the students. The following is a letter written to Tom by his last student. Thank you Tom for all you have done.

Hello Mr, Tom Crozier, I hope you are well
Through this letter, I want to inform you personally; I have successfully completed my degree in Finance and the English course I was taking in the language school of the UCA.
I also take the opportunity to inform you that the graduation ceremony will be held on October 19 or this year, I would have greatly liked that you were present at that event; However Karla explained the reason for her absence and I really understand the situation.However, it is necessary to emphasize that this triumph that I have had in my professional life has not only been mine; but I also consider it yours, because it was you who supported me to reach this goal and who trusted me and my desire to excel; I don’t think I have enough words to thank you for the kind gesture you have had with me for such a long time; for the attention I give in my studies, for his concern that I was well and that he had the resources to continue fighting for my professionalization.
In short, you have given me the opportunity to change my life for good; Well, now that I am a professional, I have more possibilities to get ahead and give my family better conditions; That is why today I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and I wish God to multiply and bless you greatly for such noble work towards me.
Believe me, I will do my best to assert the title I have won thanks to my effort and support; I only hope in God that this socio-political situation in the country will change and not obscure or limit my objectives; well, I want to continue preparing and opt in the future for a postgraduate or master´s degree to study abroad; but you can do it right here to contribute to the stability of the country.
