Greetings,

As December starts, we start to eat and drink more, exercise and sleep less, yet we are suppose to be at our best, give more and be kind to others. My only advise is to be gentle and kind to yourself.

This week we need to bring canned food for the Food Share, and bring big a car or truck to deliver the Poinsettia plants for the friends and acquaintances that ordered  them.  It will be a short meeting and food will be served.

December 16th we will be having our joint Christmas party with the other two Ventura Rotary Clubs, I encourage everyone to attend and invite people, come and enjoy the festivities, meet new and old friends from the other clubs.

Stories
Meeting November 17, 2016
Sharon Daly led us in the Flag Salute.

Judy Hoag told us that we have not sold enough Poinsettias. Time is running out and we need to get more orders. It would be helpful to get large orders like churches, malls, etc. Judy brought in lists of people who have bought Poinsettias in the past but haven't ordered yet. If you know anybody on these lists, please reach out and see if they would like to order. Also, bring your largest vehicle with you in two weeks to help deliver.

Midge Stork said that our raffle prize today was a gift card to Trader Joes donated by Dick Gallagher.

Bruce McGee announced that there would be a Rotary Social on Sunday November 27th from 3-5 at the Rotary Botanical Gardens sight.

Todd Juvonen introduced Amanda Ohlman (Rotaract's Social Media Chair). Amanda spoke about the Can Food Tree at the Collections on December 3rd and the City Center Children's Christmas Party on December 13th. Rotaract can use some help shopping for this event.

Rich Stewart asked for volunteers to ring for the Salvation Army on December 17th.

President Husam reminded us that there wouldn't be a meeting next week and that the following week would be our Poinsettia Delivery day.

Harriet Clune passed around a Christmas Party sign up sheet. All three club will be gathering at the Wedgewood on December 16th. Guests will be $36.

Harriet Clune also let us know that our team of Joe Strohman, Vance Thompson and Greg Frye finished 3rd at the Trivia Contest hosted by the South Club.

John Masterson said that the deadline for signing up for the Rotary Cruise was quickly approaching. We need 6 more couples to sign up to get our group rate. The cruise will depart on March 9th and be four days to Ensenada and Catalina.

John Borneman led us in a song.

Joe Strohman has the list of military families that we will be sponsoring this year. We will sponsor 3 families in total.

John Borneman then gave our joke of the day.

President Husam spoke about the Zone Conference. They did a project at the Boys & Girls club.
