Can anyone could pick up and take Andy Corliss back to his home in Camarillo for Rotary? Andy can no longer drive and misses his weekly Rotary meeting.

The Downtown club needs volunteers for the fireworks on the 4th of July at the college. They are looking for 10 - 15 volunteers. If you can do this let President Bruce know.

The Board of Director's meeting has been canceled for June 2nd. Too many people are on vacation or partying in Korea.

June 18th is the Board Retreat at Hishmeh Enterprises.

Dave Anderson spoke about the Step Down dinner and asked everyone to check the lists and sign up if you haven't done so already. We need a head count for the caterer. We want to bring some formality back to our Step Downs so this will be a business casual event.

Guests today were: Guest of Jeff Hata was Kris Hansen, guest of Pete Gallagher was Donna Turner and guest of Joe Strohman was Hannah Strohman.

Rocky Ludes spoke about Bob Beckwith. Bob joined the Downtown club in 1955 and then joined Ventura-East shortly after. Bob was very interested in our youth and vocational service in particular. Bob revised his estate plan and left the Rotary Club of Ventura-East's foundation $1.9 million to be used exclusively for scholarships. Rocky is the trustee of Bob's trust and is in the final phases of closing out Bob's estate. Today Rocky presented the Foundation a check for another $65,000.

President Bruce read off a list of members who had Paul Harris Fellows available. The club is asking for members who have Paul Harris's available to donate your points to the club so we can give some PHF's at the Step Down. If you would like to donate your points, please see President Bruce.

Tim Hughes acknowledged Jordan Eller for his work on the scholarship process.

Jordan told us that we had a total of 21 applicants and we will award 15 scholarships ranging from $500 - $5,000. Jordan was especially proud that the Valedictorians from all 3 high schools were awarded scholarships. We will be awarding the scholarships on June 2nd.

John Masterson took a few moments to introduce us to one of our newest members Mike Martin.

Midge conducted the raffle and our lucky winner was our visitor Kris Hansen!!!
News from Rotary International
In his address to convention attendees on Tuesday, 31 May, Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith proclaimed that The Rotary Foundation has never been stronger than it is today. Bolstered by generous contributions from members and robust programs like PolioPlus and the Rotary Peace Centers, the Foundation's good work is drawing public notice, Klinginsmith said: CNBC, a leading consumer and business news outlet in the U.S., ranked Rotary No. 5 among the top 10 charities changing the world in 2015. "Isn't it clear that our Foundation is truly better than ever before?" said Klinginsmith, who reported...

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was among the first to welcome Rotary members and friends to the 107th Rotary Convention, heralded as one of the largest-ever gatherings of Rotarians and the most multicultural assembly of nonprofit leaders in Korea. He offered a message of gratitude: “Rotarians do remarkable work around the world,” Ban told the thousands of attendees gathered at KINTEX, the Korea International Exhibition and Convention Center in Goyang city, on the outskirts of Seoul. “You help the United Nations reach our goals, and you help the world understand the United...

This year's World Water Summit on 27 May in Seoul highlighted the progress being made: Over the last 25 years, more than 2.5 billion people gained access to improved drinking water, and 2 billion who didn't have adequate sanitation now do. Child deaths from water-related diseases dropped from 1.5 million to just over 600,000. The UN Millennium Development Goals' target for clean drinking water was met five years ahead of schedule. But for the 1.8 billion people whose drinking water remains contaminated and the 2.4 billion without access to proper sanitation, progress is still too slow, said...
