January 2023 has been a real international education for our club. At our January 5, 2023 club meeting Co-President Margarida Eidson gave an interesting presentation about her home county of Portugal and her life story. We were very happy to have Margarida’s mom Rosa Maria Mendes attend the meeting and provide some background and history about her life (with translation from Margarida).  We all learned a lot about Portugal and Margarida’s journey in life. Thank you Margarida for a great program to kick off 2023!
On January 12, 2023, Monica De La Hoya presented a program of her year with the Peace Corps in Yap Micronesia.  Monica showed us how she assisted the residents of that island and discussed the unique history and customs of Micronesia.  The program showed her dedication and commitment to helping others in the world, which is one of Rotary’s prime missions.
Our club social on January 19, 2023 will be at Capriccio Restaurant in Downtown Ventura at 5:30 p.m.
On January 26, 2023, our club’s own Abbi Hanoch will be speaking about her year in Japan as a Rotary Exchange Student. Get ready to learn some Japanese and hear about Abbi’s interesting year abroad.
On February 2, 2023 our club meeting will be held at the Ronald McDonald Room at the Ventura County Medical Center. Our new club member Jacquelyn Gargano, Director of the Ronald McDonald House Ventura, will be giving us a tour of the facility and lunch will be provided there.
We have a great line up of speakers in the coming weeks.  Come and join us.
