We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian social organization comprising local business, civic and professional leaders. We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to solve community and global problems with service projects. Like:
Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
Promote literacy and career guidance in schools
Internationally we support a medical project in Ethiopia and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.
The Rotary Club of Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community. Use your professional skills and talents to make a difference.
If you haven’t already, I would encourage you all to read the November edition of ROTARY magazine. I found three articles to be fascinating and inspiring. The first is “Home from war, a struggle to find peace”. With Rotary members behind him, an Iraq veteran works through his trauma-and adopts a mission to help others. The second is “Bounce forward”. After loss, a writer goes in search of post-traumatic growth. And finally, “The new math”, Make more money by giving away more money? It adds up if you have a “Generosity Purpose” I hope that you enjoy these pieces as much as I did.
We will see you Thursday and our program should be great as we hear from The Boys and Girls club of Ventura. It would be a great time to bring a guest.
