We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:
  • Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
  • Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
  • Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
  • Promote literacy and career guidance in schools

Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of  Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

President's Message
Husam Hishmeh
member photo
Greetings,

I'd like to start off with a big thank you to Jeff Hata and all the members that helped with Nightmare On The Hill. A great job everyone, it was a party filled with love, new friendships and an incredible future. I can't wait for next year.

As one event ends we must start working on our next fundraiser, Poinsettia plant sales for the holidays.  We must set a new sales record by asking our friends, family and people we do buisness with to help us do that.

The end of the year is always full of actions and this year take the cake. We will be electing a new president for our country, there are many people with different views, we must remember to treat each others with respect and let the process take place. Please don't forget to be kind to one another, this too shall pass as they say.

This week's speaker is John Cox, Rescue California Education Foundation/Citizens Legislature, lets see what is new and hear his view in our education system.

As life can get hectic please don't forget to breath, smile and be kind to one anther.

Meeting October 27, 2016
Tom Swan led us in the Flag Salute.

Guests today were our speaker John Troxell and guest of Jeff Hata was Margarida Eidson.

Jeff Hata announced to the club that Carol Shiells was retiring and that Margarida would be taking over the business management of the Poinsettia Pavilion.

Sharon Daley gave our Inspirational Message.

Tim Blackwell asked if anybody picked up the wristbands that were left at last weeks meeting.

Jeff Hata spoke about Nightmare on the Hill. Everything is in place and we need for our members to continue to sell tickets and try and get as many people as they can to our event.

Rich Stewart gave our joke of the day.

Bob Pazen said that he and Wendy had be traveling on a Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. John & Judy Masterson were also cruising at the same time but in the opposite direction. They had hoped to get together somewhere in the middle, but that never worked out.  Bob said that about halfway the river was too low for the boat to sail through so they changed boats and continued on their trip.

Rich Stewart and Harriet Clune also were back from 2 trips. First they went to the East Coast to see the fall colors then they returned for a few days before heading off to Hawaii!!!

Husam Hishmeh also was on a trip to Seattle checking out potential colleges for his girls. Husam and family loved Seattle and said it was a very beautiful city.

Happy $'s: Rich Stewart, Bruce McGee, Bob Pazen, Jeff Hata, Alison Thompson, Jordan Eller & Juan Mendoza.

Bruce McGee announced that there will be a social for all three Ventura Clubs on Sunday November 20th from 3:30 - 5:00 at the Botanical Gardens. More information to follow.

John Borneman led us in a song.

Carol Marquez conducted the raffle for a Target gift card donated by Sara Masterson. Our lucky winner was Jeff Burgh!!!

Remember the Alamo?
Nope...it's remember the WaytoGO!

Ventura East Rotary is celebrating "Rotary in Ventura County" with a "funtastic" Star Princess 4-day cruise featuring all day visits to Catalina island's hideaway, Avalon and Mexico's charming Ensenada.  The best part is it will be with your favorite friends and Rotary Club members.

Organized by 53 year Ventura Club member, John Masterson (aka Capt'n Cruise),  this will have the fun, food and fraternization (remember the Love Boat?) of a normal Princess Cruise with the added Rotary elements such as cocktail parties, unique scavenger hunt and an uproarious joint, all club meeting, held by our 2016-2017 leader and world traveler, Husam Hismeh.  Even transportation to San Pedro is included.
