We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:

Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
Promote literacy and career guidance in schools

Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

Dick Gallagher led us in the Flag Salute.

Ashley Pope and Kris Hansen were guests of Jeff Hata. Visiting Rotarians from Ventura Downtown were Mary Saputo & Ken Leandro.

President Bruce gave a definition of Rotary for our Scholarship Recipients. President Bruce recognized:

Pete Gallagher for over 50 years of giving and service to our community.
Ron Polito for working with our Foundation for the last 20 years.
Jordan Eller for his tireless work with our Scholarship Committee for the last 5 years.
Midge Stork for the endless hours and money she has given to many organizations over the years.

This is what Rotary and Service Above Self is about.

Ken Leandro and Mary Saputo spoke about the fireworks show on the 4th of July at Ventura College. They can use some help and are looking for volunteers. If you can give some time, please let Ken or Mary know.

John Masterson gave our Joke of the Week.

Todd Juvonen announced that our raffle prize was a gift card to the Cheesecake Factory. Our lucky winner was one of our scholarship recipients Evans Abdulaziz.

Congratulations to the 15 recipients representing 3 local high schools, Buena High School, Foothill Technology High School and El Camino High School.

A huge thank you to Scholarship Committee Chair Jordan Eller and his team, Tim Hughes, Tim Blackwell, Sara Masterson & Ken Kagan.

Also, thank you to the Rotary Club of Ventura-East Foundation and their board for being good stewards of the funds which make our scholarships possible each year!!!

Foundation’s achievements and future spotlighted at Korea convention
In his address to convention attendees on Tuesday, 31 May, Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith proclaimed that The Rotary Foundation has never been stronger than it is today. UN chief Ban Ki-moon opens Korea convention
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was among the first to welcome Rotary members and friends to the 107th Rotary Convention, heralded as one of the largest-ever gatherings of Rotarians and the most multicultural assembly of nonprofit leaders in Korea. Global movement needed to reverse water crisis
This year's World Water Summit on 27 May in Seoul highlighted the progress being made: Over the last 25 years, more than 2.5 billion people gained access to improved drinking water, and 2 billion who didn't have adequate sanitation now do. Child deaths from water-related diseases dropped from 1.5 million to just over 600,000. The UN Millennium Development Goals' target for clean drinking water was met five years ahead of schedule.
